RED, RED, RED!
This exhibition is about the power of the color RED. All art in this exhibition incorporates some utilization of RED and/or reference to the dynamic energy of RED.
RED is a powerful color around the globe and connotes much symbolism – it signifies energy, action, desire, and passion. It is stimulating, exciting and motivating, attention getting, and assertive. RED is one of the top two favorite colors of all people. RED is the most popular color used on flags in the world. It is also the international color for “stop.”
The competition to be selected into “Seeing Red” was very strong — over 100 pieces of art were submitted for consideration by our juror from nearly 50 artists.
“Seeing Red” features 38 works of fine art in the following media: oil, acrylic, watercolor, collage, graphite/colored pencils, ink, sculpture, encaustic, photo-based art, linocut, block print, enamel, spray paint, and more.
We are pleased to share “Seeing Red” was juried by Ann Rintz, a fine artist, curator, college art professor and creative director from Barrington, Illinois. She attended Northern Illinois University and earned both a Master of Arts and Master of Fine Arts degree in drawing and installation art in which the curriculum included foreign study of contemporary art and design firms in England and France. Her fine art exhibition history encompasses galleries in Chicago including ARC Gallery, Gallery 1633 and the Pilsen Arts Invitational. Ann is curator of the Robert T. Wright Community Gallery at the College of Lake County in Grayslake, Illinois, where she is currently a fine art faculty member teaching Color & Design Techniques and Three-Dimensional Design.
