Our Mission

The mission of the Blue Moon Gallery is to provide fine artists opportunities to exhibit and sell their work in a supportive, respectful arena where they can feel fully valued for their impactful contribution to society as a creative, visual artist.

Our goals are:

• to introduce gifted and talented artists to our community at large

• to create personal connections and interactions between artists and art lovers, buyers, and collectors through our events, on-line presence, and gallery space

• to promote the immense emotional and pyschological value of experiencing and living with original art

The gallery juries all media including oil and acrylic, watercolor, drawings, sculpture, textiles, photography, artisanal jewelry, collage, woodworking, and more.

We bring joy and positive emotion to others through the beauty and excitement of experiencing fine art! There is nothing better than the happiness one receives from living with and experiencing original fine art that lifts the spirit and brings positivity to our lives. We specialize in bringing the best fine art in Northern IL to you so that you can connect with beauty and those who create it.

We host fun events!

We connect art and artists with art collectors, art lovers, art buyers, and the community by hosting exciting and fun Opening Receptions on the Fourth Saturday of every month from 6-9pm. Exhibitions typically feature 50-85 pieces of fine art created by painters, sculptors, textile artisans, woodworkers, illustrators, jewelry designers, photographers, and more.

Stunning art, lively conversation, meaningful networking, inspiration and beauty, music, plus interacting with the artists are the hallmarks of our receptions and make for a rich and memorable experience for art collectors and patrons.

We are also open on weekends 1-4pm.

We make collecting art easy!

Meet Our Director, Kendra Kett

Kendra has 30 years of highly successful performance in the Business sector working with and supporting Fortune 500 companies across the United States with work/life solutions for their employees. She is an award-winning Leader, Businesswoman, Innovator, and Mentor. She possesses a proven record of success and innovation in Operations, Marketing, and Sales, including communications & customer service, social media, press relations, collateral development, and finance.

She is a recognized Operations Expert & Entrepreneurial Visionary winning national recognition in customer relations, program development, diversity, community involvement, and business growth. She is one of only 6 winners of the Jim Greenman Lifetime Achievement Award for child advocacy. She is also active in her community with various charitable endeavors and projects.

Kendra delivers outstanding Customer Service with excellent Communication Skills and produces exemplary results. She operates with Professionalism and Integrity and has excellent Curatorial Skills.  

She has a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and a Master’s degree in Education both from distinguished programs at the University of Illinois.

She is the author and illustrator of a women’s self-help book and is a frequent public speaker and trainer.

She has surrounded herself with beautiful art and design since early childhood when she and her older sister-in-law visited The Art Institute of Chicago on numerous yearly family outings.

She has been an avid art collector for more than three decades and has extensively visited museums, galleries, sculpture installations, and architecture across the United States and Europe.

Kendra has been working in the art industry for five years where she has quickly established a reputation for excellence, professionalism, high energy, and innovation — all of which coalesce to make her an immensely helpful strategic partner to artists and collectors.

What’s In A Name?

We are named after the phrase “once in a blue moon” which references truly special occurrences that occur every so often and are therefore very poignant because of that rareness and novelty.

Like the blue moon itself, which appears only every 2.7 years, we think of these experiences as very unique, precious, perhaps synchronistic, and steeped in emotional impact so much so that they become forever memorable & immensely valuable.

“Once in a blue moon” something remarkable comes along, right? Like a good idea. Like a charismatic person you can’t stop thinking about. Perhaps a wonderful romance. Or maybe a synchronistic moment when everything falls together and feels so right. Like a special place at a special time. These situations are not everyday occurrences but instead something magical that happen in extraordinary ways like the phrase “once in a blue moon” suggests.

Like when you see a beautiful painting for the very first time and you realize it touches you so deeply, creating an emotional resonance – it feels quite exciting and even a bit rare, like a true blue moon – and you just have to have it.
